As of my last knowledge update in September 2023, Vietnam had visa exemption agreements with several countries. Please keep in mind that visa exemption agreements and policies can change over time, so it’s essential to check the most up-to-date information with the Vietnamese government or the nearest Vietnamese embassy or consulate before planning your trip. Here are some of the countries that had visa exemption agreements with Vietnam:

  1. Asean Countries: Citizens of ASEAN member countries are generally allowed to enter Vietnam for varying durations without a visa. The length of stay may vary between 14 to 30 days. This includes countries like Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, and others.
  2. Nordic Countries: Citizens of Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden) were exempt from Vietnam visa requirements for stays up to 45 days.
  3. South Korea: South Korean citizens could enter Vietnam without a visa for stays up to 45 days.
  4. Japan: Japanese citizens could enter Vietnam without a visa for stays up to 45 days.
  5. Russia: Russian citizens could enter Vietnam without a visa for stays up to 45 days.
  6. United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain: Citizens of these European countries could enter Vietnam without a visa for stays up to 45 days. This visa exemption program was in effect for a limited time and may have changed.
  7. Chile: Chilean citizens were exempt from Vietnam visa requirements for stays up to 90 days.

Again, please verify the current visa exemption policies with the relevant authorities, as they may have been updated since my last knowledge update in September 2023.

Vietnam visa exemption (also known as Vietnam visa waiver, or Vietnam visa free).

This kind of visa exemption is completely different from a Vietnam visa exemption certificate (also known as Vietnam 5 years visa – issues for who is Vietnamese dual citizens, Spouse of Vietnamese).
